Shakti Foundation introduced mobile banking in December 2015 as part of a financial inclusion initiative to include all its members
The Mobile Banking facilities give clients more flexibility. Financial transactions are made through a mobile account instead of cash, thereby reducing the risk of carrying money. Members conduct business transactions through their mobile accounts using savings, deposit, payment and transfer services.
Mobile Banking Through bKash
bKash Limited, the largest mobile financial service provider in the country, has signed an agreement with Shakti Foundation for Disadvantaged Women, to facilitate loan disbursement and repayment for its members through bKash. Besides, around 0.5 million members of Shakti Foundation will also be able to deposit their instalment for savings scheme maintained with the Shakti Foundation through bKash, a subsidiary of BRAC Bank.
Mobile Banking Through Rocket
“Dutch-Bangla Bank pioneered Mobile Banking in Bangladesh. It was the first bank to offer banking facilities without bank branch which provides financial services to unbanked communities efficiently and at affordable cost. Shakti Foundation with joint collaboration with DBBL-Rocket disburses loan and collects loan and savings installments through Mobile Banking Platform. This opened a gateway for the members of Shakti Foundation to be a part of the Digital Financial System (DFS).”
