Shakti Foundation and Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to conduct activities related to women's health and legal rights at the grassroots level. The MoU was signed on February 6 at Shakti Foundation's Head Office in Dhaka in the presence of high-ranking officials from both organizations.
As a result of this agreement, all female medical assistants (MATS) working in Shakti Foundation's Health Program will receive training from BLAST on human rights, gender, sexual and reproductive health rights, and mental health care. They will play an important role in raising awareness among women in their respective work areas.
In addition, legal assistance will be provided to locals through the teen and youth community groups in Titas Upazila of Cumilla, as well as healthcare, education support, and legal assistance to indigenous women in the tea gardens of Sylhet. Shakti Foundation and BLAST will also work together to raise awareness on climate resilience and adaptation in the Satkhira.
